National Night Out

National Night Out
Tuesday, August 2
5:00pm - 8:00pm
Salem Common

On Tuesday, August 2, neighborhoods and businesses throughout Salem are invited to join forces with thousands of other communities nationwide for National Night Out, an event to promote police-community partnerships; crime, drug and violence prevention; safety; and neighborhood unity.  National Night Out promotes police-community connections and partnerships and fosters neighborhood camaraderie to build a safer and stronger community through enhanced links and contacts.  National Night Out is sponsored by National Association of Town Watch and co-sponsored by Salem Police Department.  Communities from all 50 states are expected to participate in "America's Night Out Against Crime".

Salem along with Target will be hosting National Night Out on August 2nd from 5:00pm to 8:00pm on the Salem Common.  There will be races for the kids, a lot of police and fire apparatus and personnel, Target employees on hand to help with various activities, and local vendors that may wish to showcase crime prevention and safety tips.

This as a great opportunity for the men and women of the Salem Police Department to make connections with the residents and businesses.  We all rush through life at a pretty fast pace and National Night Out gives us all an opportunity to re-connect with some fun events and safety information.  The Police Department requires the support of our residents and businesses to provide a safe community.

In light of recent tragic events throughout the country, our hope is that this event will enhance the efforts of the police department in building trust and fostering positive working relationships throughout the city.
