Salem Maritime National Historic Site will
be hosting “Enduring Hawthorne: A Marathon Reading of Nathaniel Hawthorne’s The
Scarlet Letter.” “In partnership with The House of Seven Gables, Salem
Athenaeum, and Essex National Heritage Area, and with a lot of help from the
community, the reading will take place under a tent in
front of the Custom House.
Salem Maritime is currently looking for volunteers to assist
in this epic feat. If interested, please contact Gavin Gardner by email at gavin_gardner@nps.gov. A list of
volunteers will be developed and a planning meeting will be held later in
June. Please contact Gavin by June 15th to be included as a volunteer
reader.
