Zephyr Gallery is pleased to announce “26” will be on view for the month of May

NEARLY 26 LOCAL ARTISTS FEATURED IN ART SHOW AT ZEPHYR GALLERYMAY 6 THROUGH MAY 30, 2016; OPENING RECEPTION ON MAY 13

SALEM, MA, APRIL 18, 2016 – Zephyr Gallery is pleased to announce “26” will be on view for the month of May. A free public reception will be held on Friday, May 13, 2016, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Zephyr Gallery located at 37 Turner Street in Salem, MA.

The group show titled “26” will be on view May 6 through May 30, 2016. Visitation is free and open to the public. Regular business hours are Friday from noon to 6 p.m.; Saturday through Monday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; or by appointment. They are open Memorial Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There are 26 letters in the English alphabet, resulting in seemingly endless combinations that create meaning. Some words when combined with imagery have unintended consequences, sometimes particularly comical or suggestive of political commentary. The exhibit “26” showcases text based art from 26 artists. Artwork varies in media, ranging from a pieced wall hanging, collage, photography, painting, mixed media, and sculpture.

The 26 artists in “26”: Dan Browne, George Courage, Cuddy, Rebecca DeVries, Jeff Dykes, Delia R. Faria, Constance Festo Lafond, Richard Flynn, Lisa Galperin, Peter Grimshaw, Adam Harmon, Barbara Pero Kampas, Bill Kelley, Tara Kossman, My-Linh Kotre, Hilary Emerson Lay, elise mankes, Christine Michelini, Patrick O’Donnell, Ken Riaf, Melissa A. Richard, Katherine Richmond, Dino Rowan, Jon Sarkin, Pamela Schmidt, and Ray Wengenroth. Artists new to Zephyr Gallery this month: Rebecca DeVries (Salem), Adam Harmon (Salem), Tara Kossman (a senior at Montserrat), Hilary Emerson Lay (Montague), and Melissa A. Richard (New Hampshire).

Unique gifts from these artists will also be available: Sara Ashodian, Beads by Beardslee, Laurie Bellin, james bird, Cappuccio Photography, Tommy Gagnon, Ziggy Hartfelder, Ken Riaf, Vicki Ryer, Tyson Schroeder, Mary Taddie, and Jack Walsh.

ABOUT ZEPHYR GALLERY: Zephyr Gallery opened in August 2015 and is the newest contemporary art gallery in historic Salem, MA. They represent artists mostly from the North Shore, but also from Cape Cod, Gloucester, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, and New York. They feature painting, photography, sculpture, jewelry, furniture, and home décor. Their director has worked at major museums such as the Peabody Essex Museum, the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC.
