Gifts at The Gables

With the holiday season just around the corner, finding a memorable gift is easy at The House of the Seven Gables Museum Store.  We have beautiful ornaments and holiday decorations in stock.  If you have visited the house, or know someone who has, these would make the perfect gift.

Available for purchase at The House of the Seven Gables Museum Store. Can't make it to our Museum Store? Call Everett at 978-744-0991 x 195 and we can have this item shipped to you.

Buy a brick for someone you love. The front entrance walkway of The Gables is in need of brick repair. This offers a unique opportunity for the community to honor their friends and family, whether living or deceased. Bricks can be purchased and inscribed with the name of your family member or friend. Please see the price list below.

Order forms can be downloaded HERE or they are available on our website 7gables.org  If you have any questions, please call the Development Department at 978-744-0991 x 109 or email alyssa@7gables.org

What's Happening in Settlement?

The House of the Seven Gables again invited all Salem Public School students to create hand-made ornaments that reflect the many immigrant traditions around the holiday season in our North Shore area. The  hand-crafted ornaments will decorate the Settlement Heritage Tree, which will grace the Visitor Center throughout December.

Teachers and students at the Nathaniel Bowditch School and Salem Academy Charter School confirmed their participation in the project. The public will be invited to purchase the finished ornaments from the Settlement Tree, and proceeds from the ornament sales will serve as donations to the museum. The one-of-a-kind ornaments will represent the immigrant populations that The Gables has supported over the past 105 years, in keeping with its Settlement mission.  All Settlement educational programs benefit immigrant students and their families, as well as other at-risk youth in our area.

The Settlement Tree will go up on Thanksgiving weekend, and admission to view the display will be free to all.

What's Happening in Preservation

The first phases of construction of the Secret Rooms Project will be starting on two second-floor rooms in The House of the Seven Gables beginning in January. This will mark the start of a multi-year project with the end goal of opening these spaces to the public. The second-floor rooms are part of the original structure, and have been used for a variety of purposes since 1668. Visit our website and stay tuned for the latest updates about this exciting restoration.
