The Cable Replacement Project

The Cable Replacement Project

 Dear Neighbors -

We're happy to announce that as of Friday (7/17) the manhole installations on Congress Street have been completed. This crew will now move to Fort Avenue, and on Monday (7/20) begin excavating for the new manhole installations at this location.

Please note that vehicular traffic on Fort Avenue will be limited to the northbound lane. All southbound traffic will be re-routed on to Webb Street. Also, please know, that Fort Avenue residents will be able to access their driveways (please use the northbound lane) and -- outside of the work zone -- street parking will be allowed.

The remaining work on Congress Street consists of duct bank installation. As you are likely already aware, duct bank installation will continue south on Congress Street and then turn right on to Leavitt Street.

We're also happy to report that, as of Friday (7/17), the duct bank installation on Washington Square South is approximately half way complete. It's expected that by the close of business on Friday, July 24 that the duct bank crew will have connected to the existing manhole installation near the end of Washington Square South.

Once our contractors reach the end of Washington Square South, they will need two to three days to install duct bank across the intersection of Washington Square East. From there work will continue down Forrester Street, before turning on to Essex Street.

As always, we look forward to making every possible effort to keep you updated, sharing information widely, and maintaining an open and proactive dialogue so that we can continue serving our community and our neighbors and our partners in Salem.

Sincerely,
The Salem Cable Project
