PUMPKIN DECORATING CONTEST AND DISPLAY

The City of Salem will hold its seventh annual pumpkin decorating contest for Salem's young residents. Pumpkins will be judged in three age categories: 6 years old and under, 7-10 years old and 11 -14 years old. Pumpkins will be on display for all or our residents and tourists to view during October at the Salem Common. Below are the contest rules.

1. Pumpkins can be no larger than 7" wide and 12" tall.
2. Pumpkins may NOT be carved or hollowed out.
3. Objects, paper, and materials of any kind may be pinned or glued to pumpkins.  Participants may also draw or paint on their entries.
4. Entries will be received at the Common on Friday, October 17th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, Saturday, October 18th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, and Sunday, October 19th from 11am-12noon.  Only one entry per child will be accepted.
5. Each participant will fill out a registration form and be assigned a number.
6. Judging will take place on Sunday, October 19th at 12:00 noon
7. The following prizes will be awarded in each category:  1st Place - $25; 2nd Place - $20; 3rd Place $15; 4th Place - $10; and 5th Place - $5.  Prize money has been generously donated by Fiesta Shows.
8. Pumpkins will be placed on permanent display from noon to 6:00pm daily.
9. Organizers reserve the right to dispose of any pumpkin that deteriorates before the end of the contest.
10. If desired, participants may reclaim their pumpkins after Sunday, October 26th.Organizers cannot guarantee the condition of the pumpkin at the time of retrieval.

¡ El concurso Anual de calabasas decoradas y presentación!

Niños con el edad de 14 anos o menos son elegibles para participar.  Hay tres categorias de considerados: 6 años y menos, desde 7-10 años, y desde 11-14 años.  Presentamos las calabasas en el Común de Salem durante el mes de octubre.

Reglas para el concurso:

1. Deben ser las calabasas no mas de 7” ancho  y 12” alto.
2. Las calabasas no pueden ser talladas o excavadas.
3. Puede usar papel, pintura, objetos y materiales fijadas con pega o alfiler para decorar la calabasa.
4. Debe traer su calabasa al Común de Salem en viernes, el 17 de octubre dentro las horas 6:00PM - 8:00PM, o en sabado, el 18 de octubre, dentro las horas 10:00AM-2:00PM o en domingo el 19 de octubre dentro los horas 11:00am-12:00PM.  Solamente una calabasa por cada niño.
5. Debe llenar una forma de registración, y recibirá un numero de registración.
6. Será juzcado en domingo, el 19 de octubre alas 12:00PM.
7. Gracias a Fiesta Shows por donar los premios.  Otorgamos los premios en las  categorias siguientes:     Primero:   $25.00;   Segundo:  $20.00;   Tercero:  $15.00;   Cuarto:   $10.00;     Quinto:   $  5.00
8. Hay una presentación permanente de las calabasas cada dia durante las horas    de 12:00PM y 6:00PM.
9. Reservamos el derecho a tirar una calabasa deteriorada.
10. Si quiere, puede recoger su calabasa despuis de domingo, el 26 de octubre.  No hay ninguna garantia de la condición de su calabasa.
