Subject: 5 Year Consolidated Plan – Citizen Survey
We
need your input!
Each year, the City of Salem receives federal funds that are used
to undertake housing, community and economic development projects and programs
that assist very low, low and moderate income families and neighborhoods. In
order to receive these funds, the City must prepare a Consolidated Plan every
five years, as well as annual Action Plans to implement the five year plan.
Salem’s last Consolidated Plan was completed in 2010.
To develop a new Consolidated Plan and the annual Action Plan, the
process involves gathering information from many sources to identify needs that
exist in Salem. This includes seeking input from residents, businesses, social
service organizations and civic groups. In addition to a series of neighborhood
meetings, workshops, focus groups, and interviews, we are conducting this
survey to allow residents of the City of Salem to give feedback on community
development issues and provide input on goals and priorities.
The result of this research will be a comprehensive 5 year
strategy for the use of Salem’s federal housing and community development
funds. The annual Action Plan for Fiscal Year 2016 will put into action the
goals and strategies established in the Consolidated Plan.
Please take the survey!
