National Park Service Reopens Derby Wharf
"The National Park Service at Salem Maritime National Historic Site announced that as of today, Derby Wharf has reopened to visitors. The decision to close Derby Wharf was made one month ago after significant damage and erosion from a succession of winter storms created hazardous and unsafe conditions for the public to travel along the wharf to Derby Light. In the last two weeks, the National Park Service staff in Salem made significant progress in restoring the Derby Wharf National Recreation Trail (celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the National Trails Act)."
