On behalf of; Christian Haselgrove
Yesterday evening, Footprint Power and Iberdrola met with
the neighborhood in a meeting planned by Mayor Driscoll and Councillor
McCarthy. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss extended work hours
at the powerplant site: Iberdrola has requested an extension of their hours and
Councillor McCarthy and Mayor Driscoll would like to gather feedback from the
neighbors before a decision is made.
There were two main outcomes from the meeting:
Iberdrola's plan was not well enough defined at the meeting
for comment. They are preparing a document to detail their request, which
I will forward on this list and will also be posted on our Facebook page.
There will then be opportunities to comment, certainly by e-mail and a web-based
survey. I hope to have this document in the next day or two; responses
will need to come fairly quickly since Councillor McCarthy will need them
before bringing the issue to the City Council for discussion and a vote.
Traffic by the site workers was also discussed. Issues
of speeding, recklessness, and general rudeness were raised, among
others. Iberdrola has pledged to take action if we provide pictures of
cars (preferably with license plates visible!) whose drivers are not being good
neighbors as they come and go. E-mail pictures to Kevin Cornacchio,
Footprint's coordinator with Iberdrola, at kcornacchio@footprintsalemharbor.com.
Please be aware that tickets cannot be issued as a result since a police
officer has to observe a violation to make a citation, but Iberdrola has
promised to take action on their end to deal with workers who are driving
through our neighborhood dangerously or rudely.
Please do let me know if you have questions or concerns, and
I hope to send Iberdrola's plan in the next day or so.
Christian
