This is a presentation of Footprint's plan and not the Salem Harbor Plan. The harbor plan will be the overarching planning document for the site and this is an important distinction.

You can submit questions you would like Footprint to address at hdsnasalem@gmail.com
As we would like to keep questions focused from people in the neighborhood, please include your address when asking a question; please have questions to us by April 18, 2021 at 5 pm, so we can forward to Footprint;

Thank you and hope to see you there!

Message from the Mayor

This is Mayor Driscoll, I’m calling to let you know that the state has announced that starting tomorrow, the next group of residents will become eligible to receive the COVID vaccine. This group includes all residents over the age of 65, anyone who lives or works in affordable senior housing buildings, and anyone with two more specific medical conditions – regardless of their age. You can find a list of those medical conditions at salem.com/vaccine

You can also visit that website to find links to vaccine clinics here in Salem and in our surrounding communities, where you can make an appointment to get the vaccine. Please note that appointments at all clinics are only posted when they have vaccine doses available. For our largest Salem clinic – currently at Salem State’s south campus – we’re posting new appointments for the coming week every Saturday around noon. That clinic isn’t the only one you can go to however, so be sure to check all the clinic sites listed at salem.com/vaccine to find one that works for you.

Lastly, at present the federal government is providing the state with limited vaccine amounts of approx. 100,000 vaccine doses per week. The latest group of eligible residents is estimated at 1,000,000 million people. We ask for your patience as until the federal government begins releasing more doses of the vaccine, the Commonwealth has a very limited supply. This is a marathon, not a sprint, and we’re all in it together. As additional vaccines become available, we'll be ready to vaccinate more people at the local level!

Thanks for your patience and stay safe.

Share your priorities for the Footprint Property

Salem Municipal Harbor Plan – Salem Municipal Harbor Plan

Through the Salem Harbor Plan Committee, the City is updating the Salem Harbor Plan to address key changes along our waterfront and to guide future development. This update will include the reuse of the over 40 acres of privately owned waterfront land around the new power plant (the "Footprint Property") within the Designated Port Area (DPA). DPAs are land and water areas set aside for industrial uses that rely on access to the water to operate. Through the Harbor Plan, which will also serve as a DPA Master Plan, the City may request flexibility for certain use standards but must balance that flexibility with strategic elements that ensure that DPA interests are still protected.

The feedback received through this survey will help the Harbor Plan Committee understand the community's goals and priorities for the reuse of this property and will inform the Committee's visioning process going forward.

City of Salem - Vaccine information

This is Mayor Kim Driscoll
I’m reaching out to you and all Salem residents to let you know that effective Feb. 1st, residents over the age of 75 will be able to receive the COVID-19 vaccine for free, subject to availability. Vaccinations are being given at multiple locations around the North Shore, including a city led vaccine site at Salem State’s South Campus. All vaccination sites require an appointment to be made in advance and you can schedule an appointment starting today, Jan 27th.
You can find a link to make your appointment at salem.com/vaccine. Please know that vaccinations are free and while proof of insurance is not required, if you are insured please bring this information with you to your appointment. We are required to follow state mandated phasing for vaccinations and anyone over the age of 75 or anyone who falls within the Phase One category is eligible to receive the vaccine. According to leading health experts, the COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective – and it’s how we will finally be able to put this pandemic behind us.
Please plan to get the vaccine as soon as you are eligible to receive it. If you have questions about the COVID-19 vaccine, you can find more details online at salem.com/vaccine or please feel free to email health@salem.com with any inquiries for local health officials. I appreciate your patience and vigilance as we work together to curb the impacts of COVID within our community.
