Salem Maritime National Historic Site will host a Report Out
presentation by the park’s Resource Management staff. The park’s Resource
Management division oversees the protection and preservation of the natural and
cultural resources at both Salem Maritime and Saugus Iron Works National
Historic Sites. This includes the extensive museum and archives collections,
active conservation of the native plants and environment, and collaboration
with the larger preservation community working to protect the history that make
Salem and Saugus such special places.
Presentations will include efforts to develop a new
monitoring strategy to study climate change impacts to Derby Wharf in Salem,
continuing long-term work to remove invasive plants and nuisance animals from Saugus
Iron Works, exciting research to relocate buildings removed from the Salem
Maritime site in the 1930s, efforts to make the Salem Maritime archives more
accessible, and an overview of how we continue to care for the historic objects
in our collection and museums.
