Dear Neighbors -
Here's an update on our
progress, and a forecast of what to expect from the Salem Cable Project this
week.
Our cable removal crew on Canal
Street is making its way toward the intersection of Washington Street and Mill
Street. Today you can expect to see these contractors removing the section of
cable just north of the Canal Street-Pond Street intersection. From there
this crew will shift their work site approximately 100 feet north on Canal
Street. By Thursday, we anticipate that this crew will be working in the
Washington Street-Mill Street intersection. The duration work in this intersection
is expected to be two to three days.
The Derby Street cable removal
crew is working its way west on Derby Street, and have added almost 400 feet to
their removed cable total, despite inclement weather last week. This week these
contractors will pick up where they left of at the close of the work day last
Friday. We anticipate that this crew could advance as far as the corner of
Derby Street and Turner Street by the end of this week.
Please note that as these cable
removal crews approach busy intersections (e.g. Washington Street-Mill Street),
traffic lanes will be compressed, so please continue to proceed with caution
through work zones -- and adhere to direction from police details stationed
around the site.
Also, station upgrades continue
this week at both the Canal Street Sub-station, and Salem Harbor Station. This
work should have no impact on street conditions or traffic.
We look forward to completing
this work as quickly, as safely, and with as little inconvenience as possible.
As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact a
member of our outreach team by calling our toll-free hotline at 844-SALEM-CABLE
or through the "Contact Us" feature on the website.
Sincerely,
The Salem Cable Project
