Salem Police Department Issues Amplification Restriction for Halloween

Salem, MA – In the interest of public safety, Salem Police Chief Paul Tucker has directed that no amplified sound shall be permitted on Essex Street from Barton Square to Hawthorne Boulevard, and for 25 feet in all directions from that area, on Friday, October 31, between the hours of 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. The Salem Police may reduce, extend, or otherwise alter those hours as circumstances warrant. This restriction applies to all forms of amplification, including, but not limited to: sound systems, boom boxes, microphones, bullhorns, and amplifiers.
